One-Year OCAST Internship Opportunity

One-year student internship is available for an OCAST project, “Mitigation of Swelling Soil-Induced Problems in Oklahoma Using AI-Based Models and Chemical Injection.” Although students with a background in Civil Engineering are preferable, students from other engineering and related disciplines such as architectural engineering and construction science may be considered. 


The student intern is expected to work 15-20 hours/week during the academic year and about 30-35 hours per week during the summer. The intern is expected to work mostly at Standard Testing and Engineering Company,  3400 N Lincoln Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73105. 


The pay rate is $15 - $17/hour depending upon experience. Interested students should submit the following materials to Musharraf Zaman (zaman@ou.edu):  

  • Cover letter
  • Curriculum vitae including experience
  • Copy of transcript (unofficial copy will be okay)
  •  List of at least three references
  • Classes taking/planning to take in summer and fall
  • Any other relevant materials (no lengthy materials will be reviewed). 

Review of applications will start on February 8, 2022. The anticipated starting date is February 15, 2022. Online interview (Zoom) or in person of selected applicants will be arranged upon screening of applications and related materials. Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply. Minority students are especially encouraged to apply.
