The Electric Vehicles Charging Fellow opportunity with the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation is now accepting applications.

What will I be doing? You will be provided with the opportunity to participate in JOET projects and be mentored by experienced JOET staff. JOET also supports fellows in pursuing further professional development opportunities, such as trainings, workshops, and conferences. Interacting closely with their JOET mentor(s), the fellows will learn how to:

  • Review, manage, and make recommendations on the EV charging proposals for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula and Grant Programs as executed by the Federal Highway Administration.
  • Build relationships to engage programs and public-private partnerships to increase the speed of transitioning to EVs and deploying the supporting infrastructure.
  • Engage in critical aspects of the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation’s mission.
  • Conduct technical reviews of projects funded by the Joint Office.
  • Draft key documents summarizing program strategy and accomplishments, technoeconomic analysis to inform the Joint Office activities.
  • Collaborate and direct the modeling and analysis of vehicle charging infrastructure and electric grid integration.
  • Organize meetings, workshops, and conferences to solicit feedback from expert stakeholders on the Joint Office activities
  • Engage on the development and implementation of standards and requirements for EV charging to ensure a high-quality driver experience.
  • Collaborate with DOE, DOT and other agencies on EV charging plans, transit and school bus electrification, research, and reports.
  • Review and analyze project progress and other technical reports.
  • Engage with DOE to communicate with researchers to address questions and issues that arise.
  • Collaborate on the scoping of key demonstration and proof of concept projects that will enable and accelerate the Joint Office vision.

The details:

You will receive a competitive stipend, an allowance to offset the costs of health insurance, research travel and materials up to $10,000, and relocation expenses reimbursement up to $5,000. 

You must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident and completed or be in the process of completing a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree.
