The New Mexico Lab-Embedded Entrepreneur Program (NM-LEEP) matches entrepreneurs with seed capital, a large network of mentors, customers, and investors and the unique expertise and resources of Los Alamos National Laboratory (Los Alamos) and Sandia National Laboratories (Sandia).

What will I be doing? Every year, a cohort of entrepreneurs are recruited from around the country. For two years, you will be embedded in the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) research ecosystem, where DOE/NNSA provides funding, access to Los Alamos and Sandia national labs, and a program of intensive mentorship, tailored business development, and networking. 

 

We are looking for entrepreneurial technical leaders who have the drive and ability to build a transformative technology and lead a team in its development. We also aim to ensure that the initial project concept is technically sound, reasonably differentiated, and addresses a well-framed problem with potential to significantly advance the missions of our fellowship sponsors.

 

Our goal is simple: empower participants to mature their ideas from concept to prototype to first commercial product and identify the most suitable commercial path to launch their technology into the commercial market.

Internship: Oklahoma DEQ - Engineering Intern Positions

My name is Rocky Chen and I am an engineering manager at the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (“DEQ”) where I supervise the Construction Permitting Section in DEQ’s Water Quality Division.  

 

We are currently looking for 1-2 engineering interns to work with my group during the fall and spring semesters of the 2022-23 academic school year.  The interns will be working alongside the project engineers in the Construction Permitting Section, reviewing plans and specifications for water & sewer infrastructure projects (lines, pumping stations, wells, and treatment facilities).  

 

If you have any engineering students who are completing their Junior year, or are Seniors who are on the “5-year program”,  we would be interested in discussing an internship with them.

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) consists of a cadre of special agents and professional support personnel who provide expertise in crisis management, hostage rescue, surveillance and aviation, hazardous devices mitigation, crisis negotiations, behavioral analysis, and tactical operations.

What will I be doing?   As a research fellow with the Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) Visiting Scientist Program (VSP), you will enhance your professional development and increase your research capabilities by participating in research initiatives under the mentorship of CIRG research personnel. The VSP will expose you to a work environment in a high security government facility and provides an opportunity to perform research in areas of interest unique to law enforcement and national security.

Under the guidance of a mentor, you may be involved in the following:

• Conducting searches of scientific literature
• Designing social/behavioral sciences research projects related to criminal, national security, and/or cyber threats
• Conducting statistical analysis of data
• Preparing and presenting research findings to diverse audiences, both orally and in writing

As a participant you will receive a stipend as support for your living and other expenses during this appointment. Stipend rates are determined by the CIRG officials and are based on your academic and professional background. The initial appointment is for one year but may be renewed upon recommendation of FBI contingent on the availability of funds, for up to five years. The appointment is full time during standard business hours.

Fellows receive a stipend, health insurance, and a generous allowance for education and professional development.  The fellowship appointment is for one-year, renewable for a second year, with opportunities for peer-to-peer learning provided for each cohort. Stipends are determined by highest degree level received and years of relevant professional experience and location. For the District of Columbia, stipends begin at $53,105 for a bachelor’s degree, at $64,957, for a master’s degree, and $78,592 for a Doctoral degree. For Illinois, stipends begin at $52,022 for a bachelor’s degree, at $63,633 for a master’s degree, and $76,990 for a Doctoral degree. For New Mexico, stipends begin at $47,148 for a bachelor’s degree, at $57,672 for a master’s degree, and at $69,777 for a Doctoral degree. We calculate an ‘adder’ to the stipend base for your degree based on the number of years of relevant experience you have.

Job Description: We are looking for DUET Student Fellows who will serve an integral role in shaping the DUET program (Developing Understanding and Engagement Together). During the Spring 2023 semester, our inaugural DUET Student Fellows will aid in solidifying the framework for the DUET Fellow program. This pedagogical partnership program will pair students and faculty members to explore, analyze, revise, affirm, and/or imagine teaching and learning.

Following the Spring 2023 project, we expect that the inaugural DUET Student Fellows will continue participation in the DUET program through the 2023-2024 academic year by partnering with faculty as the program is implemented. This program is inspired by the Students as Learners and Teachers Program at Bryn Mawr University.

Job Duties will include:

• In collaboration with the other fellows and the CFE Senior Associate Director of Inclusive Teaching, develop DUET Student Fellow supports, including resources and workshops, for effective participation in the DUET program (Spring 2023).
• Attend weekly meetings with other DUET Student Fellows.
• Assist in delivery of supports to DUET Student Fellows hired for the 2023-2024 academic year.
• Collaboratively partner with a DUET Faculty Fellow through weekly meetings and observance of a class, approximately once a week (2023-2024).
• Meet with other DUET participants (including other DUET Faculty Fellows) during small and large cohort gatherings as scheduled.
• Participation in panels or other communication strategies to share student classroom experiences with instructors across campus.

Up to 2 hours weekly for 10 weeks in Spring 2023, schedule based in part on availability of all student fellows during hours 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, with the potential for continuing in the 2023-2024 academic year.
