On Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 12 to 3 p.m. ET, the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) is hosting a virtual career fair to highlight the variety of paid internships, fellowships, and research opportunities available within our Research Participation Program across the following agencies:

Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Synthetic/Organic Chemistry

Under the guidance of a mentor, the participant will be actively involved with the synthesis of new and existing drugs and precursors currently encountered or potentially to be encountered in the illicit drug market. The participant will design novel synthetic pathways to unknown/known compounds, formulate and carry out synthetic procedures leading to purified compounds. The participant will possess a broad and thorough knowledge of organic synthetic chemistry and corresponding knowledge/experience with applicable laboratory techniques. The participant will also keep abreast of the latest developments in synthetic procedures so that new advances can be applied without delay to the solution of problems encountered.

The participant will learn to perform novel syntheses, hone synthetic skills, design novel syntheses, enhance purification skills, identify emerging compounds of abuse

The Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Office (BTO) is now accepting applications for an Efficient and Healthy Schools Fellow.

What will I be doing? As a member of the team, you will both learn how to:

·       Participate in technical reviews/assessments of proposed activities, conduct technical and economic feasibility analysis, and evaluate the progress and ongoing viability and success potential of the Healthy and Efficient Schools project toward meeting the BTO’s goals.  

·       Collaborate in the assessment of state-of-the-art scientific literature and practice in relevant technologies and assess new opportunities for further advancement in the field and the industry. 

·       Contributing to completion of BTO strategy and Collaborate with other BTO Fellows in support of Efficient and Healthy Schools and supporting sub-programs.
