Cabbiness Engineering, LLC, is proud to announce a summer Engineering Internship Program to be offered May 15, 2019 through August 9, 2019 for students who have completed at least their sophomore year of study and/or students who will be beginning their Junior and Senior years of study. Clients with detailed and per Company Introduction Cabbiness Engineering, LLC was founded in 2009 and is a locally-owned professional engineering and consulting firm located in Norman, Oklahoma. Our team embodies engineering excellence by offering our clients the ideal combination of local knowledge and innovative design solutions - all in a responsive and timely manner. We have always strived to be a leading provider for the State in regards to Municipal, State Transportation, and Civil Site Design projects. In order to maintain this goal, as well as expand our company’s footprint and stay ahead of the curve in regards to offering cutting edge designs, we have strategically grown through our operations team – combined of recent graduates and industry-leading professionals who have over 180 years of industry-related experience. It is with this standard in mind, Cabbiness Engineering desires to cultivate new engineers and provide training opportunities for students.

Internship Curriculum As a Summer Engineering Intern you will learn the core activities of a Consulting Engineering Business.  Core Activities include:

• Marketing, business practices and the different types of design projects, i.e.; Municipal, State Transportation, and private entities.  How Cabbiness obtains projects, negotiates scopes and finalizes the terms of the project will be covered.
• Scoping visits will be conducted to determine the extent of the project and types of activities needed for successful planning and design.  Visits will be made to determine survey boundaries, right-of-way issues, utility involvement, possible environmental impacts and any other design and construction obstacles.
• Field work and inspections will involve data collection for site conditions, scope of hydraulic analysis, social, economic, environmental and archaeological requirements, unique project requirements and regulatory requirements.
• CAD Drafting is Computer-aided design for the creation, modification and analysis of plans which must convey information on materials, processes, layouts, calculations, dimensions and tolerances, as well as simulations.  Engineering Interns will be introduced to the CAD programs used by Cabbiness Engineering for design projects through one-on-one teaching sessions.
• Civil Site Design will cover site development for both the public and private sector.  A typical project will include aspects of drainage analysis, site grading, underground utility design and overall site grading.  Summer interns will be exposed to the overall site design process and have the opportunity to help develop construction documents for ongoing projects.
• Municipal Project Designs are improvement projects undertaken within a county, town, city and/or community and are usually awarded to a consultant on a Qualification Based Selection procurement process. These typically include public water, sanitary sewer and storm drainage improvements. 
• Transportation Projects are projects initiated by either municipal entities or the State Transportation Departments, with or without Federal Highway Administration oversight.  The projects may involve one or more of the following: bridges, highways, survey, intersection improvement, widening and/or resurfacing roadways, traffic engineering, hydrology and/or hydraulics, landscaping, lighting or other construction improvements. 
• Plan Reviews are conducted to verify project design parameters, plan quantities, provide technical writing to document events and any issues that may arise with the design and drawings, including change-in-plan items and audit quantities.
• Inspections during construction of the design projects are/will be conducted by Cabbiness Engineering engineers to ensure quality construction in accordance with the plans and specifications.  Engineering Interns will accompany Cabbiness Team members to the sites to review the design vs. construction phases of Cabbiness’ projects.
* Following the completion of the Summer Internship Program, participants will be required to participate in an exit interview and program analysis.
