The University of Oklahoma has received a $1 million gift from ConocoPhillips in support of its Data Science and Analytics Institute. The OU Data Science and Analytics Institute also provides training to leading corporations to upskill their workforce across a broad spectrum of DSA knowledge from awareness to expertise and builds new tools and models to provide solutions for challenges facing our partner corporations.

“The generosity of ConocoPhillips is providing the Gallogly College of Engineering, and our partners across the university, the ability to benefit more OU students by equipping them with skills in data science and analytics,” said Randa Shehab, associate dean of the Gallogly College of Engineering. “These students will be more valuable to their future employers because they are prepared to speak the complex language of data science.”

“We are grateful to ConocoPhillips for their continued investment in our students and programs,” said OU President James L. Gallogly. “As one of our largest corporate sponsors, their long-term support of OU ensures our students are ready with the skills they need to be successful in the workforce.”

Certificate programs, intended to enhance an OU graduate’s knowledge and marketability, will be developed and implemented under the guidance of OU faculty housed in multiple academic colleges. Initial content delivery to students in both technical and non-technical degree programs in the Gallogly College of Engineering, Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy and Price College of Business is slated to begin in early 2020.
