Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program

The Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program (MSIPP)provides full-time undergraduate and graduate students from accreditedMinority Serving Institutions (MSIs) with an opportunity to complete a summer internship aligned with ongoing U.S. Department of EnergyOffice of Environmental Management (DOE-EM) research under the direction of a host national laboratory. The internship will be performed at the host national laboratory, utilizing their facilities and equipment under the guidance of a senior research mentor.
The mission of the program is to provide an enhanced training environment for next generation scientists and engineers by exposing them to research challenges unique to our industry.
As an MSIPP participant, you will train under the mentorship of a DOE-EM scientist while participating on a mission-focused research project. During the 10-week appointment, you will receive a weekly stipend.

Eligibility (at the time of application)
  • Be working toward a degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics)
  • Have a minimum undergraduate or graduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Pass a drug test upon selection
  • Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at one of the following accredited Minority Serving Institutions
